I love to travel, that’s why I created this blog, but I think one thing that traveling has taught me is to appreciate the small town I grew up in.
Even though my small town is a tight knit community that is very conservative; traveling to destinations that aren’t like the quaint place i grew up makes me realize that it has it’s own special place in the world.
When traveling I hope you take that away that same appreciation for where you came from. Yes, we all walk different paths in this life, and yes, we all view places in the world differently. but, I hope seeing other areas that are unlike the place you were raised gives you a new lenses to look at your childhood home with.
This is the place that made you, it has influenced you more than you think, it was your starting environment.
Traveling has given me new lenses to look at my small town with. I have yet to be in another place where I feel transported to Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. That’s the best analogy I can come up with. When I walk in this town at two in the morning I feel as safe as I would at nine in the morning. Everyone works together in this community to make events happen and to bring more people to our small town, which they are so prideful about.
All in all, I may complain about where I live sometimes. This is only because I’ve lived here my whole life and I’m waiting for that opportunity to get out (or, trying to make it, that is).
The whole point of this post is that I want you to also find the beauty in where you live. It doesn’t have to be your hometown, it can be the place you live currently. Treat it as if you were traveling and taking pictures of awesome sights.
Trust me, you will get some great shots! And, if you’re like me, you might stumble into places you never knew existed!
If you want to read about my travels, you can see what I did in Italy.
Now, what are you waiting for? Go take some pictures!
